Bob Slydell: Yeah, we can’t actually find a record of damage multipliers going up to 6x in the rubric.

Bob Porter: I looked into it more deeply and I found that apparently what happened is that the algorithm had changed a year ago; but through some kind of glitch in the config system, it was cumulatively multiplying instead of summing.

Bob Slydell: So we just went ahead and fixed the glitch.

Bill Lumbergh: Great.

Dom Portwood: So, uh, player stats have been nerfed?

Bob Slydell: Well, just a second there, professor. We, uh, we fixed the glitch. So they won’t be as powerful anymore, so it’ll just work itself out naturally.

Bob Porter: We always like to avoid confrontation, whenever possible. Problem is solved from your end.

So, yeah, we’re gonna need you to go ahead and check in with HR about that. Great.

We ended up modifying gun damage, plane leveling curves, and pilot skill curves. And boss health! All these changes bring the game more in line with our plans, but we expect that bugs still remain! We really appreciate hearing about everyone’s experience, please keep that up! We can’t find imbalances without you.

Fixed saving of unchosen pilot skills. If you fail to pick new pilot skills after dying for whatever reason, they will be saved for next time you level up. We know this is not the best interface, a better interface will have to wait for more dev time!

R no longer brings up the Bug Report screen. Too many accidents were triggering it and taking people to the Rebel City! Now it’s Ctrl-R only.

The input key for hovering is now bindable.

Load times have been somewhat improved, thanks to Ray removing nearly 200 (!) unused enemy configs.

Tons of small edits to enemies, one of which is that Solaris’s orbiters are now at the correct tier.

Potential fix for crazy hexagons. If you don’t know what this means, you’re better off that way.

The following server-only changes rolled out on Wednesday evening but I neglected to put them on the blog until now:

  • An exploit for lots of
    XP using the Alien Ambassador boss has been put to bed. It’s a fun
    thing to see in action!
  • T8 drops are reduced!
  • The Kraken is much more difficult now.
